KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK)
Sultanah Asma from Kedah emerged as the champions of the 2011 Schools Marching
Bands championship held at Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil here today.
This is the fifth time the school clinched the title after 1999, 2003, 2007
SMK Sultanah Asma beat 10 other teams to take home the winner''s prize of
RM5,000, certficate, medals and the championship trophy as well the Gold Award
The school also won the hornline, percussion and colour guard categories.
Runners-up SMK St. John, Kuala Lumpur from here took home RM3,000,
certificate and trophy while second runner-up Kolej Sultan Abdul Halim, Kedah
The prizes were given away by Deputy Education Minister Dr Mohd Puad
The other schools competing were SMK Tun Fatimah, Johor; SMJK Chung Hwa,
Kelantan; SMJK Jit Sin, Penang; SMK Derma, Perlis; Methodist Girl School, Pahang
and SMK Tinggi Klang, Selangor.
