SMKSB APPEALS FOR FUNDS TO REPAIR TERMITE INFESTED HALL

KULIM, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Sekolah

Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Badlishah (SMKSB) are appealing for funds from the

Education Ministry to repair the school''s termite infested hall.

The wooden stage in the hall, known as Dewan Samsuddin, was opened by the

Sultan of Kedah Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu''adzam Shah on July 28, 1963, has been

badly damaged by termites over the years.

PTA chairman Noraida Yahaya said a proposal for the construction of a new

school hall and its site was sent to the ministry in May 2011, but have yet to

receive any feedback on the matter.

"We hope the ministry will grant us the necessary funds...we frequently

change the stage flooring because of its deplorable condition," she told Bernama

after the school PTA''s 33th annual general meeting which was officiated by

Kulim/Bandar Baharu Puteri Umno division chief Datin Norsabrina Mohd Noor.

Norsabrina said the division would help assist in securing the allocation

since Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Badlishah has been identified as a

cluster school which should have a suitable hall for its 1,465 students.
