ALOR SETAR, July 24 (Bernama) -- The sole woman racer at the Petronas
Malaysia-AAM Cub Prix 2011 is not about to give up despite her poor showing at
the Darulaman Stadium yesterday.
Nasha Edziera Mohd Bahauddin, a private racer in the Wira category, was not
listed for the final round at the sixth round of the competition.
However, Nasha Edziera, 16, did not want to admit defeat but would make
preparations for the seventh round of the championship in Kluang, Johor in
September.
She admitted that it was difficult for her to compete against the male
racers who were more skilled in the sport.
"It is not easy to be on the same level as the male racers but I will prove
that women can also shine in this rough sport," said Edziera, who is from Negeri
Sembilan.

A student at Tuanku Ampuan Durah Secondary School, Seremban, Nasha Edziera
suggested that a women only race be organised.
"Maybe, women are afraid to take part in this rough sport especially when it
is being monopolised by men. So, a women only race could probably attract more
women before they actually compete with male racers," she said.
Touching on her performance during the six rounds of the championship, Nasha
Edziera said there was nothing to be proud of but she would do her level best to
qualify for the final in Kluang.
"I could not do my best and was not qualified for the final, (in the
evening) after I had engine problems into the sixth round of the race, during
the qualifying round yesterday morning," she said.
Nasha Edziera said her team of mechanics comprising of her father and
friends had made good engine adjustments after encountering the engine problem.
round.
"They are still new to the task.It is a normal scenario for a new team like
ours. However, for the seventh round in Kluang, I have to improve on my stamina
and focus on the competition. I hope mechanical problems will not crop up
again," she said.
