Stop harassing Jessie Ooi, says MCA

MCA has called on netizens to “stop personal attacks” on its Selangor Beliawanis chief Jessie Ooi, widely ticked off for her aggressive manner in asking a question during the MCA-DAP leaders’ debate last Saturday.

“Netizens and bloggers should not be excessively obsessed with or speculate on the subject of Ooi’s question, so as to keep the focus of the debate on the debaters,” said Wanita MCA Beliawanis chief Tee Hooi Ling.

Ooi caught public attention for the manner in which she posed a question to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng during his debate in Kuala Lumpur with MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek.

“The claims made and circulated around the Internet and in public have been widely exaggerated...

“Ooi herself has admitted to being over-excited on that day due to the fact that she was not given enough time to convey her question properly, which resulted in a misunderstanding,” explained Tee, urging the public to stop haranguing Ooi.

She also slammed critics for verbally abusing Ooi and harassing her with Photoshop images that have gone viral on the Internet.

Tee also defended Ooi for trying to convey Penang people's concerns , and reminded critics to not “twist” her questions.

“Such uncouth practices do not conform to the system of democracy in our country and are just plain wrong,” she stressed.

    MCA Youth: Ooi the victim

Meanwhile, MCA Youth secretary-general Chai Kim Sen also came to Ooi’s defence, saying that Malaysians should be aiming their gun at Lim for “evading questions” relating to the opposition coalition’s political platform.

Chai said Lim had failed to address the questions posed by the MCA president, but opposition supporters chose to target Ooi instead.

“During the debate, Chua had asked Lim to explain the socio-economic model that will be implemented by Pakatan Rakyat,” he said.

Lim was asked how Pakatan would make Malaysia a high-income nation, but he only gave a brief response, with no clear elaboration of its strategy, he said.

However, Ooi became the “victim”, lamented Chai, who went on to accuse Pakatan supporters of stooping to “dirty tactics” to protect Lim.

“Instead of wasting their time insulting and criticising Ooi, Pakatan should sit down and focus on its social-economic model of governance.

“Even though the debate is over, Pakatan cannot hide the fact that it is lacking in ideas on how to govern the nation,” said Chai.

If Ooi is asking questions with correct sense, why people want to attack her. If she realised that she had mishaved or being mischevious to Lim, she should have apologised. Her atttitude is very similar to Makiyo, just twist and turn. How can MCA have this kind of immatured leader. Because of her, other MCA leaders come out to defend her. Just an absurd act of MCA leasders.

Ooi should apologise to Lim for being rude and no brain. Don't behave like Makiyo and MCA leaders should consider carefully before blindly defending Kak Tow Truck

Just ask Ooi apologise to Lim and things will be fine. Don't be Makiyo.

why none of the MCA leaders voice out the NFC scandal?
is it true MCA is just a lap dog?
why did she get so fused up over a parking matter N why Tee is talking on behalf of her?
don't MCA have bigger N important things to do.."like, what have gone wrong during the GE12 N why are BN supporter switching their votes to the opposition?"
scratch your head N bud N ask, why.... instead of barking like a pariah dog

nfc is way out of their parameter, why a senior minister from umno even say mca is like abuse wife unwilling to leave her husband, like a lap dog , mca kept quite and stay on!

@Miss Thor, indeed, if that's what is happening N true abt MCA, then they should consider opting out of BN instead of being under their thumb N, worst, being criticize by the rakyat. But if MCA is under their MERCY, then those leaders involved should resign N quit politics all together N MCA should too, quit from BN.
I'm just a lay man, I know nuts abt politics N I hate politic's but seeing corruption so rampant N worst still on the hands of the people who suppose to UPHOLD the law.
Isn't it suppose to be "no one is above the Law.........?"
Where is the LAW N Order?
Isn't the BN Icon suppose to be BALANCE?

Chai: "instead of wasting their time insulting and criticising Ooi, Pakatan should sit down and
focus on its social-economic model of governance."
Let's change it to: "instead of wasting their time insulting and criticising DAP, MCA should
sit down and focus on its social-economic model of governance, esp, on
how to improve the standard of living and getting a fair treatment for the
      Chinese".

Now you see... people got good reasons not to support MCA... if MCA has people like this Jessie Ooi fellow as leaders.. what else would one expects? The thing is MCA is in a desparate condition... and having a person like this Jessie Ooi will not help at all.. and as for Ooi a true mark of leadership is moderation and humility... sadly saying she has none.

if this is it. then it seems that her attitude/manner is accepted. so will we see more and more 'her' in future talking like this? is this public communication?

This lady just made a fool of her self. She has damaged her credibility. Did she ever realise that she was on National TV watched by all Malaysians. Well she has to pay the prize for
her action - empty vessels make the most noise. Is this what MCA is made up of? Is a real disgace to the Malaysian Chinese Community.
Look at the style and coolness and the smile in which our YB Lim Guan eng handled the debate. Great Personality indeed. He won the debate. Keep it Mr.Lim.

If such rudeness demonstrate the calibre of MCA's next generation of leaders, I am very worry and doubt about the party future. If she is the really a good leader, she should stand up, own up, and be responsible with her rudeness and apologize. Instead of asking others to help to explain on her behalf, she should sit in the press conference and act like an adult. Stop hidding under the blanket and ask daddy and mommy to protect and cover her mistakes.

Chai, Stop asking Pakatan to explain their social-economic model of governance. Instead, show us your proposed social-economic model of governance. Pakatan has proved to all Malaysian that they are putting in a good social-economic model of governance by the result that they have archieved, result shown by itself. Penang people have gave Gerakan and MCA a chance to serve us in the past and you failed us badly. Instead of deploying tactics like "Voting for DAP is equal to voting for PAS", "Islamic law", "No Representation in cabinat" etc. Prove to us by showing to us that MCA really can represent us. BN has made some of the most serious mistakes in NFC scandal, Lynas (clicking time bomb, Why build the refinery in Malaysia while they can build it in Australia, Save export and logistic cost some more), budget overrun in KLIA2, Klang Port, increase of national debt from RM265 billion in 2007 to RM465 billion in 2011. Tell us how you going to address and solve this issues. We are listening... MCA and BN should explain your solution to us... the Rakyat of Malaysia.

Bullshit ppl always come up with more bullshits... The opinions and comments are given by rakyat, stop categorize ppl as supporters of DAP/MCA or BN/PKR. we are not blind or deaf, we can find out the truth nowadays. stop with all the accusation and provide more evidence if there is any.

Dear Tee Hooi Ling, if people like Jessie Ooi are the ones voicing the so called concerns of Penang people... Penangnites REALLY HAVE REASON TO BE CONCERNED

After 50 over years, our country debts are at its highest, crime rate is at alarming rate(snatch thieves, house breakin, robberies, etc).Majority do not feel safe to walk in lonely places, foreign illegals are plenty in the country, govt projects given out to cronies without open tenders(which caused the govt to receive less and sometimes have to fork out more by the govt to make sure the project is completed. These are the issues you flers should fight for and not try to defend this lady whose behaviour is uncalled for and does not fit to be a leader.

at time of general election coming into pictures, a lot of all these back lane politicians or rather hope to be future politicians will come all out in the public yielding and voicing a lot of nonsense or true sense (at times)with the intention of drawing the attention of their leaders on top. BUT when you are prepared to come out as a public figure, then there is one thing for sure - be prepared for public comments irrespective of whether they are good or bad &/or whether they are personal or not. and in the case of jessie ooi, it's just too bad that she yielded out the wrong comment on the right issue & it's just highly embarrassing to say that she shouted out issues without any good grounds or sound foundations thus causing her personal self & the party to be humiliated. CONGRATULATIONS JESSIE OOI, for the least, you had made yourself well known over night BUT at the wrong time time & place just because you tried to tripod & support your party president with your ignorance of your knowledge. and as for the party MCA, don't try too much to cover the ugly face of your member because she had already damaged & humiliated the image of the party in the open & so she should be penalized for her fault in the public, if not, she could never succeed in becoming a future public figure (if she could make it to the top). as a former MCA member myself, i had seen a lot of all these uncalled for unknown politicians shouting like mad dogs on the roadside & yet nothing positive is done. god bless their true souls & spirit if they do possess the kind.
