KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 (Bernama) -- DAP national chairman Karpal Singh has
called upon PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang to stop making further
statements on behalf of Pakatan Rakyat.
Karpal Singh said Abdul Hadi did not have the right to speak on behalf of
Pakatan Rakyat especially when saying that the coalition would implement hudud
laws if it comes to power.
The Bukit Gelugor MP said Abdul Hadi''s statement was purely rhetoric and
devoid of any justification.
"It is regretted of late (Abdul) Hadi has been making statements with the
sole purpose of withdrawing them later. I have said it before and I say it
again, that hudud cannot be implemented in Malaysia as it would be clearly
unconstitutional," he said in a statement here, today.
Meanwhile, Karpal also thanked Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim for his
contributions as the DAP vice-chairman and it''s senator.
"He is a man of principle and integrity. His credentials are flawless and
worthy of emulation," said Karpal.
The DAP did not extend the tenure of Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim as a
member of the Senate following his statements which deplored street
demonstrations in the city.
