STRONG EARTHQUAKE IN EAST COAST OF HONSHU

KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 (Bernama) -- A strong earthquake with a magnitude of

6.3 on the Richter scale hit the east coast of Honshu in Japan at 3.19pm today.

According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the

epicentre of the earthquakes was 172km south east of Morioka in Japan and

4,490km north east of Kudat in Sabah.

The earthquake did not bring any tsunami threat
