KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- A strong earthquake, measuring 6.2 on the
Richter scale, hit the Fiji Islands region today, the Malaysian Meteorological
Department reported.
The epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 9.48 am, was 22km north of
Laucala, Fiji, and 7,028km southeast of Semporna, Sabah, it said in a statement.
The quake did not pose any tsunami threat, it added.
