    STRONG EARTHQUAKE HITS HONSHU ISLAND

    KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- A strong earthquake, measuring 6.0 on the

    Richter scale, hit the Honshu Island region today, the Malaysian Meteorological

    Department reported.

    The epicenter of the quake, which occurred at 2.21pm, was near the east

    coast of Honshu, 119km southeast of Mito, Japan and 4,131km northeast of Kudat,

    Sabah, it said in a statement.

    The quake did not pose any tsunami threat, it added.
