Switzerland Under-23 0-1 Senegal Under-23: The Africans record another Olympic warm-up friendly win

Senegal’s Under-23 team defeated their Swiss counterparts 1-0 in the West Africans' final warm-up match ahead of the London Olympics men's football tournament.

The only goal of the game was scored after five minutes by 19-year-old striker Moussa Konate, who joined Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2011 from Senegalese club Toure Kunda.

Fresh from a two-goal win over Spain, one of the top favourites of the forthcoming tournament, the Junior Teranga Lions successfully imposed their powerful physique on the Swiss team, prevailing in both the midfield and attack.

The Schweizer Nati, however, found their rhythm near the end of the clash, but efforts from Admir Mehmedi, Innocent Emeghara and Josip Drmic could not force an equaliser.

The Senegalese Football Federation announced on Tuesday it had replaced Dame Ndoye, who was selected as one of the three senior players, after new club Copenhagen declined to release him for the Games.

Senegal are drawn in Group A against hosts Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates and Uruguay.
