Symetra Ties Up with Premera to Provide Better Services

Symetra Financial Corporation (SYA) and Premera Blue Cross declared an alliance with the aim of offering a wide array of life and disability products to employers.

The new partnership shows Premera’s attempt to deliver increased value and improved services to members.

Premera, a leading health plan in the Pacific Northwest, will incorporate Symetra's integrated disability offerings in its own employee benefit package. The latest benefits will also complement the current group plan offerings, which are available for renewals now.

This collaboration will lead to creation of unique group benefit solutions, which fit in with Premera’s existing medical products. These solutions can also be tailored to suit the employer’s need.

The tie-up between Symetra Financial and Premera will lead to establishment of an integrated solution model benefiting both employers and employees. It will reduce the administrative work for employers and provide employees more convenience. Additionally, it will offer a set of group benefit solutions particularly advantageous for employers in the Pacific Northwest.

Premera will now be able to cater to employers more efficiently, be it regarding local customer service support or advanced technology solutions. Its services will include providing group life such as accidental death and dismemberment, short and long-term disability, and managed absence programs like FMLA administration.

The joint effort of Symetra and Premera will result in flexible solutions adapted to the needs of local communities and customer-centric, competitive group life, disability income and absence management products.

For Symetra, the collaboration will help in associating with premier organizations. It will also help the company to make a niche in the Pacific Northwest marketplace.
