TEAM THAILAND - STAR PLAYERS

1) Boonsak Ponsana

Superman always saves the day in the comics and movies and to Thailand badminton fans, Boonsak Ponsana is their Superman.

That is the nickname he has earned after so many years with the Thai national team as he is usual the last of his countryman still in the main draw of international tournaments.

Lately, however, Boonsak has been suffering a spate of injuries and has not been producing many high level performances.

Nonetheless, many look up to him as the icon of Thailand badminton and it is something he has worked hard at, ever since he went away to train in China when he was just 14 years old.

That journey lasted for two years when he had to return home after his father suffered a heart attack.

He nearly quit the sport then but knowing his late father’s wish was for him to become a badminton star, Boonsak returned to the courts and has not looked back since.
