KUALA LUMPUR: A 19--year--old teenager, her fiance and a friend were detained in connection with the assault and robbery of an executive at a car park at Mid Valley Megamall on Friday.
Police said the girl was detained because she lent her handbag to her 21--year--old fiance, who is the prime suspect, to keep the stolen items inside it.
Brickfields district deputy police chief Supt Aida Abdul Hamid said the case was solved after police checked an apartment unit at Taman Desa in Jalan Klang Lama at 3am yesterday.
"The analysis of the CCTV footage, and our surveillance led us to an apartment unit, where we detained the prime suspect,"Aida told reporters at the Brickfields district police headquarters.
In the house, police found more than 22 personal documents and items belonging to viothe victim.
However, police did not find the victim's iPhone, which was reported stolen together with victim's handbag.
"We believe the phone had been sold off to a phone accessories shop in the city,"she said.
Following the arrest, police raided a house near the apartment and arrested a 16--yearold teen, believed to be the "middleman"who sold off the victim's belongings, including the phone.
Police then raided a house in Ampang, where the 19--yearold girl was detained.
Police also seized a parang, a black T--shirt and trousers, all of which were believed to have been used during the robbery.
Checks showed that the prime suspect -- Khairul -- had a criminal record for assault.
He was also previously detained for a juvenile offence.
The suspect has been remanded until July 1 while his fiancee and another accomplice were released on police bail.
In the 10.30pm incident last Friday, an executive in her 20s was robbed and slashed on her head by a man on a motorcycle at the mall's car park.
The incident happened when the victim had just alighted from the elevator near the cinema.
The suspect, brandishing a parang, slashed her on her head before fleeing with her belongings.
