Teratai Apartment landslide report to be released Friday – Bernama

Pergerakan tanah Apartment Teratai masih berlaku

A full report on the landslide at the Teratai Apartment in Bukit Beruntung, Hulu Selangor, will be released this Friday.

Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said the report would be presented to the state government by the public works department (PWD).

He said according to the latest reports from PWD and Hulu Selangor district council, soil movement still occurred but at a minimum level.

The department has installed sheet pile as a measure to stabilise soil at two other apartment blocks there.

"Installation of the sheet pile is still ongoing as we worry the existing wall will collapse again. If it rains this evening we will put up a canvas sheet to prevent landslides," he said after attending a Deepavali celebration with landslide victims in Hulu Selangor today.

Azmin said the department also installed sensors in the landslide area and carried out a study on the soil to allow hill cutting works in the affected areas.

"Once the report is out we will appoint a contractor for the hill cutting, if necessary. This is to ensure fewer burdens on the soil."

So far, 219 families involving 860 residents from two apartment blocks were affected by the 10am incident on Monday.

They have relocated to three relief centres, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Bunga Raya 1 (142 families, 517 people), Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Bunga 2 (45families, 196 people) and Sekolah Menengah Taman Bunga Raya 1 (32 families, 147 people). – Bernama, October 22, 2014.
