Shahrizal Muhammad, 30, at Kampung Banggol, Tok Jiring, here today.

Shahrizal, who was attached to the Kuala Terengganu police station, died in

an accident about 3 am yesterday morning, on his way to work at the Menteri

Besar''s official residence.

He was believed to have lost control of his car and crashed into a shop

house at Jalan Sultan Mahmud.

He died at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah hospital due to severe head and body

injuries.

When met at her in-laws'' home here, his wife, Wan Azreen Wan Jaafar, 30,

said, "He would usually wake me up before leaving for work but that night he

just left without saying goodbye."

The couple have two children, Muhamad Adam Danial, 7, and Nur Amanda

Deahanna, 3.

The late Shahrizal''s father, Muhammad Deraman, 55 said the family was

still shocked over their loss and sad they could not celebrate Ramadhan with the

eldest of his four children.

Meanwhile, the deceased''s colleague, Sgt Mohd Zainuddin Mat Jalil, 52,

described Shahrizal as a cheerful and generous person, even though he only knew

him for about four months.

Ahmad presented the family with financial assistance from the state

government and a personal contribution from himself as well.

Also present were state deputy police chief, Datuk Hamzah Mohd Jamil and

Tepoh assemblyman Muhammad Ramli Noh.
