Titus James Palani became a househould name in Malaysia 15 years ago, as a kid who had sublime ball juggling skills and even appeared in a local television advertisement. Then, he left our shores to join French football and Malaysians hardly had any word on him after that.
13 years on, Titus who now plays as a left-back for a French club called Nanteuil FC has been given a chance to stake his claim in English football by another prominent Malaysian footballer and pundit, who now happens to be the global football advisor of English Championship club, Blackburn Rovers, Serbegeth Singh or better known as Shebby.
Titus is understood to be relishing this chance and is looking forward to joining up with the Blackburn team once he gets the green light. He told THE STAR, “I know that if I make it, I will be the first Malaysian to play in England. I have played competitive football in France and I know what it’s like to play in Europe”.
The 26-year-old would not however face any work permit problems like other local players who have attended trials with English clubs before him as he has been playing football in Europe for the last 10 years.
For the record, Titus has no caps for the senior national football team of Malaysia.
