TM SIGNS UP 399,000 CUSTOMERS FOR UNIFI SERVICES IN JOHOR

KULAIJAYA, July 18 (Bernama) -- Telekom Malaysia Bhd has signed up 399,000

customers for UniFi services in Johor since its launch in March 2010, said its

vice president for Johor, Mohd Roslan Mohd Rashidi.

"The increase in subscribers every month is a good sign since its launch

which was helped by the wider coverage and the increasing awareness of the

services," he said here today.

Mohd Roslan said this to reporters after the signing of the service

agreement between TM and AME Development Sdn Bhd here today.

Also present was chief executive officer of Iskandar Regional Development

Authority, Datuk Ismail Ibrahim.

The service agreement involves the provision of the network infrastructure

and high-speed broadband (HSBB) services in the two new industrial areas in

Johor -- i-Park@Southern Industrial and Logistics Clusters (SILC), Nusajaya and

i-Park@Indahpura, Kulaijaya.

Meanwhile, managing director of AME Development, Kelvin Lee Chai, said under

the agreement, all factores in i-Park@SILC would be provided with HSBB services.

"i-Park@SILC will receive free 5Mbps UniFi services for two years, access to

Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), Primary Rate Interface (PRI) and

Metro-Ethernet.

"The factories in i-Park@Indahpura will get access to ISDN PRI and later

UniFi," he said.

Meanwhile, Ismail said the collaboration marked another milestone for TM in

bringing HSBB network connectivity to all five flagship zones within Iskandar

Malaysia.

"This connectivity is expected to become the key driver in attracting more

foreign direct investments to venture into Iskandar Malaysia.

"This effort will definitely help Iskandar Malaysia to continue and strive

to become the best economic region," he said. -- BERNAMA
