LUMUT, April 24 (Bernama) - The new Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) power plant
to be built at Teluk Rubiah here will fully operate using the latest environment
TNB vice-president (generation) Datuk Mohd Nazri Shahruddin said it will use
Ultra Super Crictical Technology making it the first such plant in South-east
He said the technology from France and China was proven to reduce carbon
monoxide emission and can efficiently control sulfate dioxide.
"We assure the public especially those near the power plant that it will not
pollute the environment," he told reporters after the ''Jana Manjung Fellowship
Ride (JMFR) programme here today.
The new power plant will be build next to Sultan Azlan Shah Power Station
TNB-ENVIRONMENT 2 (LAST) LUMUT
Nazri said the new power plant will use coal as fuel and will produce
1,000MW of electricity.
"The contract with a leading contractor was signed on March 31st 2011 and
initial work like levelling the project site is in progress.
"If all work goes according to schedule, the plant costing about RM5bil is
expected to start operation on March 31 2015," he added.
TNB is also building Ulu Jelai power plant in Pahang costing RM2.2 bil and
Hulu Terengganu plant in Terengganu costing RM1.25bil.
