"Twilight" actor for "Frankenstein" remake

25 Sep – "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" actor Xavier Samuel is set to star as the horrific monster created by Dr. Frankenstein in the upcoming "Frankenstein" remake.

Mary Shelley's novel about the grotesque creation of an eccentric scientist has been adapted many times but "Candyman" director Bernard Rose is keen on making an adaptation of his own, even adapting the famous novel to screenplay himself.

Other than Samuel, Rose has also cast Danny Huston and Carrie Anne Moss. The two will be playing Victor and Elizabeth Frankenstein, a pair of married mad scientists. Tony Todd, Mr. "Candyman" himself, has been given a role in the remake as well.

Movie Web reports that Rose's version of the movie will be set in modern time Los Angeles, told from the perspective of the monster that goes by the name of Adam.

This is not the only "Frankenstein" movie in the works this year, however. Another "Frankenstein", directed by Paul McGuigan, is currently in production. The movie, starring James McAvoy as Victor Frankenstein and Daniel Radcliffe as Igor, is planned for release in October 2015.

Rose's "Frankenstein" is slated for release in 2016.
