Dua lelaki mengaku tak bersalah rompak eksekutif penerbangan AirAsia X

A school bus driver and an accomplice have been detained as part of a probe into the death of AirAsia X ground executive Shahrinawati Abu Bakar (pic) in Ampang last week.

Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Amiruddin Jamaluddin said the 25-year-old bus driver tested positive for drug abuse and checks also showed that he was wanted for an earlier drug-related offence.

The bus driver was nabbed at a traffic light junction in Taman Cempaka, Ampang yesterday evening.

His accomplice, a 22-year-old, was nabbed on Friday, some 24 hours after Shahrinawati was killed tragically.

The 30-year-old airline executive was mowed down by a motorist who was going to her aid after he witnessed two men attempting to rob her at the car park of the Palm Villa City Garden Condo in Taman Cempaka.

Amiruddin said the duo are being investigated for armed robbery with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt.

The suspects face a maximum 20 years imprisonment, with whipping, if convicted.

Police made a breakthrough in the investigations when one of the suspects dropped his wallet containing his identity card while attempting to flee from the scene last Thursday.

Shahrinawati who worked as a ground officer at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal in Sepang had parked her car by the roadside and was walking to her condominium when the two armed men confronted her.

The incident was witnessed by a motorist who wanted to chase the robbers who were on a motorcycle. In his haste, however, the motorist crashed into Shahrinawati.

The motorist and his friend rushed Shahrinawati to the hospital but she succumbed to her injuries. - September 3, 2013.
