PETALING JAYA, July 23 (Bernama) -- Police detained an elder brother and a
friend of a suspect believed to be involved in a scuffle with policemen who were
dispersing a noisy party at the parking lot of a flat in Taman Medan, here,
early yesterday.
Petaling Jaya police chief, ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said the suspect''s elder
brother, 29, and his friend, 31, were arrested yesterday.
"So far, we have detained three suspects including the first suspect who
was arrested soon after the incident," he told reporters after a visit by
Selangor deputy police chief Datuk A. Thaiveegan, here, today.
A policeman was injured while trying to disperse the party at the parking
area of the flat in Taman Medan early yesterday morning, after he was attacked
by several party revellers.
In the 3.50am incident, the policeman and his partner had told a group of 30
people who were having the party with loud music from their cars'' audo systems,
to disperse as they were disturbing public peace.

A 27-year-old man was detained while the rest escaped.
Arjunaidi said the suspects were being remanded until tomorrow to assist in
the investigation under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, Thaiveegan urged the public to always respect the law and the
authorities, especially in ensuring peace and security.
"In this matter, the issue of lack of freedon does not arise because they
could hold such parties but there must be limits in terms of time and so on, so
as not to disturb the peace of other residents," he said.
