Two teachers charged with possessing UPSR question papers – Bernama

Two teachers were charged in the Kuala Kangsar Sessions Court today with possessing several pages of Mathematics and Science question papers for Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination 2014.

P. Uma Mageswari, 27, and K. Anparasu, 50, pleaded not guilty and asked to be tried after the charges were read to them before Judge Johari Hassan.

Uma is alleged to possess several pages of Science 018 question papers in a Samsung Ace smartphone in the school at 12.39 pm on September 10.

Anparasu was charged with three counts of possessing several pages of Mathematics 035/1, Mathematics 035/2 and Science 018 question papers in a Samsung Trend smartphone from 8.29 to 9.43 am, on September 9 and 10.

All the charges were under Section 8 (1)(c)(iii) of the Official Secrets Act 1972 (Act 88) which provides for a jail term of not less than one year and not exceeding seven years.

Uma was the Tamil and English teacher at SJKT Keruh, Pengkalan Hulu while Anparasu was a senior administrative assistant at the same school.

Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Amril Johari proposed that both accused be granted bail of RM10,000 each.

Their counsel, T. Ellanggoran pleaded for a reduced bail for Uma who was supporting sick parents and the same for Anparasu who just had a heart surgery.

Judge Johari granted Uma bail of RM3,000 with one surety on condition that she report to the police station weekly until the case was settled, while Anparasu was granted bail of RM8,000 with one surety.

The court set December 18 for remention of the case. – Bernama, November 27, 2014.
