    UNSUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS OF BR1M AID ADVISED TO APPEAL

    IPOH, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni

    Hanadzlah today advised eligible households which failed to get the 1Malaysia

    People''s Aid (BR1M) to submit their appeal before Feb 10 for immediate

    processing.

    "They are entitled to appeal because their application could have been

    rejected due to a technical mistake or other factors," he told reporters at the

    Chinese New Year open house for the Tambun parliamentary constituency at Sekolah

    Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Pei Cheng, Chemor.

    Ahmad Husni said the appeal must be made immediately because the government

    wants to ensure that every eligible household receives the aid.

    It has been reported that the Inland Revenue Board has received 4,123,713

    application forms and 3,850,668 of them have been entered into the data system

    for verification.

    Some 3,102,054 of the applications have been approved and the applicants

    will be notified in stages of the date and place where they can collect the cash

    vouchers.

    The Finance Ministry has prepared a special format for appeals which can be

    downloaded from www.treasury.gov.my or obtained from branch offices of the

    Inland Revenue Board.

    Applicants can check the status of their applications via the 1-800-222-500

    or 1-300-88-3010 hotline from Jan 16, 2012, between 9 am and 5 pm on working

    days.
