RAUB, April 28 (Bernama) -- Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen today
urged taxi and hire car associations to offer attractive packages to both local
and foreign tourists to further boost the tourism industry in the country.
She said this would not only be a boon for them but the local communities as
well.
"As they are the first people to come into contact with tourists, taxi
drivers should act professionally and also play a role in promoting tourism by
offering attractive packages for visitors to tour the country," she told
reporters after officiating the handover of a RM480,000 taxi terminal sponsored
by her ministry to the Raub district council, here today.
Ng, who is also the MP for Raub, added that the government targetted 30
million tourist arrivals this year and a turnover of RM60 billion for the
tourism industry.
