VARSITY STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BE INFLUENCED BY OPPOSITION PROPAGANDA - MUSTAPA

KOTA BAHARU, May 16 (Bernama) -- Youths, especially students at institutions

of higher learning, must reject any opposition propaganda to topple the

government through street demonstrations.

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said,

this was because Malaysia was an icon to other nations over its success in

administering the country.

"Students should not be influenced by claims that the situation here is

similar to those in Egypt, Libya and Syria. There are also claims that the rally

held on April 28 was similar to that held at the Tahrir Square in Egypt, to

topple the government.

"These are all slanders and a big lie," he said during a gathering of 1,000

students from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Universiti Sains Malaysia and

Universiti Malaysia Kelantan at the UiTM branch campus here last night.

Mustapa, who is also Kelantan Umno liaison committee chairman, urged

students to respect the law and use the right channel to voice their grouses.
