Malaysia’s promising winger, Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor has allayed fears that his injury is serious enough to see him ruled out of the AFF Suzuki Cup.
The Harimau Muda A star sat out of Malaysia’s 5-0 win over PDRM in a friendly match at Wisma FAM last night after pulling up with a thigh injury in training a day before.
“It’s a normal injury, just a slight muscle pull behind my right thigh. I don’t think it’s worrying but everything will depend on what the physio and doctor say,” he told Sinar Harian.
Wan Zack, who missed the Malaysia Under-23 squad’s success of winning the SEA Games gold medal in Jakarta last year through injury, added that he does not want history to repeat itself.
“It’ll be extremely disappointing to miss out again. I really hope to recover fast and help my team-mates in our fight to keep the trophy.”
The 21-year-old is scheduled to undergo a MRI scan this morning to find out the extent of his injury.
Reigning champions Malaysia will play Thailand in the first leg of the semi-final this Sunday at the Bukit Jalil Stadium.
