*HIGHLIGHTS UNAVAILBLE FOR SOUTHAMPTON-LEICESTER DUE TO LATE KICK-OFF
Southampton's 2-0 defeat to Leicester City at St. Mary's on Monday night allowed West Ham to move top of the Championship table.
The Hammers beat struggling Nottingham Forest 2-1 at Upton Park to move three points clear, while Cardiff City's stoppage time winner in a 3-2 thriller against Portsmouth saw the Welsh side strengthen their hold on third.
Birmingham moved into the top six with a 3-0 win over Watford, while Hull and Blackpool strengthened their play-off cause with victories over Reading and Crystal Palace.
Bottom-placed Coventry pulled off one of the surprises of the weekend as they toppled Middlesbrough, who ended the game with nine men, and Millwall did their survival hopes no harm with a 3-1 win over Barnsley thanks to a Darius Henderson hat-trick.
Doncaster are still five points away from safety after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Bristol City as Habib Beye was dismissed after half an hour, and Ipswich remain dangerously close to the bottom three following a 3-1 defeat to Leeds United.
Elsewhere, Brighton were victorious away from home against Peterborough, while Burnley and Derby sit mid-table after a goalless draw.

Johnnie Jackson scored his second match-winning free-kick in as many games to lead Charlton to a 1-0 win over Sheffield United.
The victory moves Chris Powell’s side seven points clear at the top of the table, while Huddersfield beat Brentford 3-2 to climb into the automatic promotion places, with Jordan Rhodes among the goals.
Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons and Stevenage could only manage a point each in the race for a play-off place against Hartlepool, Notts County and Scunthorpe respectively, while Bournemouth moved to within two points of the top six, coming from behind to beat Tranmere 2-1 at Dean Court.
Bottom-placed Chesterfield picked up a vital win against Colchester and fellow relegation strugglers Wycombe were comfortable 3-0 victors over Rochdale and are now just a point behind Yoevil, who lost 3-2 at Bury as the home side’s captain Steven Schumacher scored twice, the second a penalty in which he had to wrestle the ball away from team-mate Giles Coke in an incident which saw both players booked.
Graham Westley’s first official game in charge of Preston ended in defeat to Leyton Orient, while Walsall stay out of the relegation zone with a point against Carlisle, and Oldham and Exeter laboured to a goalless draw.

League Two's first and second-placed teams fell to defeat on Saturday in a round full of shocks in the lowest level of the Football League.
Leaders Southend looked to have saved themselves a point through substitute Ryan Hall but succumbed to a late defeat away to Shrewsbury at the Greenhous Meadow Stadium.
Cheltenham also came crashing to an unexpected loss, with Bristol Rovers celebrating Mark McGhee's first game in charge with a fine 2-0 win at Whaddon Road.
Despite seeing the sides above them slip up, Crawley missed the chance to leapfrog the top two after conceding to a Maxine Blanchard bicycle kick in the closing stages away to Plymouth, who moved out of the relegation zone with the point.
Torquay disposed of Morecambe to strengthen their hold on sixth whilst fellow playoff hopefuls Shrewsbury and Swindon also took three points against Southend and Macclesfield.
Crewe made it three wins on the bounce after coming from behind to hammer Dagenham & Redbridge 4-1, with 17-year-old Nick Powell grabbing the pick of the goals with a sublime dinked finish to wrap up the match.
Fellow strugglers Northampton were unable to take advantage of the Daggers' defeat after also throwing away a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 against Barnet. However, lowly Hereford, Bradford and Aldershot all grabbed vital points against Oxford, Burton Albion and Accrington Stanley respectively to boost their survival hopes.
AFC Wimbledon came from 2-0 down away to Gillingham to eventually secure a dramatic win in the 89th minute as Port Vale leapfrogged Rotherham with a 1-0 win with both sides battling it out in mid-table.
