JOHOR BAHARU, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Wonderful Lifestyle Sdn Bhd, the main
franchise partner of Gloria Jean''s Coffees branches in Malaysia and Brunei, aims
to own 50 outlets by 2015.
Its Chief Executive Officer Fauzi Awang said by that time, the company has
also target to produce 30 young Bumiputera entrepreneurs, to be successful in
the business.
"After five years of operations in the country, Gloria Jean''s Coffees had 17
branches, mostly in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
"The opening of the 18th and latest branch in Johor Baharu is among the
steps taken by us to be more proactive in expanding this coffee cafe throughout
the country," he said here today.
Fauzi was speaking after attending the opening of the 18th franchise branch
at the Sutera Mall. The franchise is being run by brothers Nurul Fatiha Mokhtar
and Zainal Abidin Mokhtar.
Wonderful Lifestyle is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia International
Franchise (MyFranchise) Sdn Bhd, which is the franchise arm of Perbadanan
Nasional Bhd (PNB).
He said by year-end, five more Gloria Jean''s Coffees branches will be opened
in Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, Pahang and Penang.
Towards efforts to draw more customers and improve variety, the company
plans to serve traditional offerings such as nasi lemak and tapioca which can be
enjoyed with coffee at the franchise.
"We are now cooperating with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to undertake
the study for this purpose," said Fauzi.
At the same time, he also welcomed young Bumiputera graduate entrepreneurs,
who are keen on joining the Gloria Jean''s family.
"Assistance in financing 70 per cent of the capital of between RM400,000 and
RM500,00 to open a new branch will be provided by PNB. What is important is that
they have the interest and are able to offer suitable space to start the
