Zulkifli shoots back at Khairy in Twitter row

Former Perkasa vice-president Zulkifli Noordin continued his Twitter row with Khairy Jamaluddin today, taking a swipe at him with a belittling tweet and telling him not to be a knee-jerk politician.

Khairy, the Youth and Sports Minister, had told Zulkifli yesterday to 'shut up' after the latter had made insensitive tweets about the death of Karpal Singh.

Today, the former Kulim MP tweeted: "I actually can't be bothered to entertain Pak Lah’s son-in-law because I sympathise with Datuk Seri Najib. So I will answer only once so that they can all sleep peacefully."

Zulkifli then tweeted: "Dear Pak Lah's son-in-law: Please don't be a knee-jerk politician! We don't need another Anwar in this country! Okay?"

Hours after Karpal's death yesterday, Zulkifli had tweeted that Allah had killed off the Bukit Gelugor MP who was the major opponent of hudud law.

The exact tweet was, "The Kelantan PAS government wants to enforce hudud law with the help of Umno. Allah has killed off Karpal who was the major opponent of its implementation!"

Almost immediately after Zulkifli posted his tweet, Khairy tweeted, "Shut up. Really, just shut up."

Karpal had been one of the staunchest opponents of the attempt to introduce Islamic law in Malaysia, maintaining DAP's stance on the issue.

Following Zulkifli's insensitive tweet, Malay right wing group, Perkasa also kept a distance from him, claiming that the former's comments were his own and not that of the group.

Today, Zulkifli also sought to explain his previous offending tweet by claiming that him saying Allah “killed off” Karpal was consistent with Islam.

Zulkifli said Islam teaches that all death comes from Allah, and that Allah decides when a person dies.

Karpal, 73, and his personal assistant Michael Cornelius, 30, died yesterday when the Toyota Alphard multi-purpose vehicle they were travelling in collided with a five-tonne lorry.

The accident occurred at 1.10am along KM306.1 of the north-bound North-South Expressway. – April 18, 2014.
