BUTTERWORTH: More than 20,000 people are expected to welcome Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when he visits the Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency on Feb 5.
The Perhimpunan Rakyat 1Malaysia programme will give people a chance to meet Muhyiddin and other Barisan Nasional leaders.
State BN Wanita chief and Batu Kawan division BN chief Datuk Ng Siew Lai, who is also the event coordinating chairman, said the programme would start at 7pm and end at about 11pm.
Ng said 200 food stalls would be set up and food coupons worth RM200,000 would be distributed to the people.
Muhyiddin was also scheduled to meet state BN leaders on the island in the morning and attend another "meet the people" session in Jelutong in the afternoon before another event on the mainland.
Present at the press conference were state deputy Umno chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzair, division MCA chief Tan Li Huat, Bukit Tengah BN coordinator Dr Lim Boon Han, Batu Kawan MIC division chief R. Muthiah, Batu Kawan PPP division chief A. Muniandy and Batu Kawan IPF division chief A. Rajagopal.
