Some 400 residents of four villages in Kampar were relocated after three metres of water inundated their homes when Sungai Kampar overflowed earlier today.
Kampar police chief Supt Abdul Aziz Salleh said the victims from Kampung Baru, Kampung Pasir, Kampung Kuala Dipang and Kampung Malaya had been evacuated to SMK Kampar.
Heavy rainfall since yesterday evening caused the river to burst its banks and flood the houses. However, no missing persons or injuries were reported, he told reporters today.
He said the Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Department, Rela, police and Social Welfare Department joined hands to facilitate the relocation of flood victims.
