KUALA LUMPUR, 22 Mei (Bernama) -- Syarikat peruncitan, AEON Co(M) Bhd, yang

mengendalikan 30 gedung di Malaysia, akan melabur RM240 juta tahun ini untuk

membuka sebuah pusat beli belah/gedung peruncitan di Kulaijaya.

"Gedung dengan ruang lantai seluas 430,000 kaki persegi itu dijadualkan siap

pada Disember.

"Dengan pembukaan gedung baharu itu, syarikat ini akan mempunyai 31 buah

gedung di seluruh negara," kata Pengerusinya, Datuk Abdullah Mohd Yusof.

Rancangan sedang dibuat untuk membuka gedung-gedung baharu, dan lokasinya

telah pun dikenal pasti.

Abdullah juga berkata industri peruncitan di negara ini terus amat berdaya

saing kerana semakin ramai usahawan sedar tentang prospek sihat dan permintaan

yang semakin meningkat bagi pengalaman membeli belah yang lebih baik.

"AEON tetap positif tentang prospeknya dan akan terus memanfaatkan kekuatan

daya saingnya dan mengembangkan perniagaannya," katanya pada satu sidang akhbar

selepas mesyuarat agung tahunan syarikat itu.

Sementara itu, Pengarah urusan AEON, Nur Qamarina Chew, berkata syarikat itu

telah memperuntukkan sejumlah RM350 juta bagi perbelanjaan modal.

Daripada jumlah ini, RM120 juta dikhususkan bagi pengubahsuaian

cawangan-cawangan sedia ada.

Sebagai permulaan, AEON akan memberikan tumpuan kepada kerja-kerja mengubah

suai cawangan Ipoh Kinta City yang dijadualkan dijalankan selepas Hari Raya.

"Kami juga akan mengubah suai cawangan-cawangan Bandar Puchong dan Bandar

Sunway tahun depan," katanya sambil menambah bahawa AEON akan memberikan tumpuan

kepada pengubahsuaian satu atau dua pusat beli belah/gedung peruncitannya setiap

tahun.

Beliau berkata pengubahsuaian dan pembaharuan adalah proses berterusan untuk

mengekalkan kesegaran dan kelestarian pusat dan gedung beli belah.

"Gedung perlu mengikut aliran zaman untuk menawarkan pengalaman yang lebih

baik bagi pelanggan kerana gaya hidup terus berubah-ubah," kata Nur Qamarina,

sambil menambah bahawa AEON, yang telah berkembang dengan teguh tahun demi

tahun, tetap komited terhadap strategi jangka sederhananya untuk memperkukuh

kedudukannya sebagai peneraju pasaran.
