Anggota PDRM terperangkap serangan di Sudan Selatan diselamatkan, kata Khalid

Ketua Polis Negara Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (gambar) hari ini mengesahkan anggota Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) yang terperangkap dalam serangan puak bersengketa di Sudan Selatan, telah diselamatkan.

"Syukur, Koperal Pritam Singh yang terperangkap di dalam sengketa etnik di Bor, South Sudan telah diselamatkan oleh Pasukan Bantuan Pertubuhan Bangsa-bangsa Bersatu (PBB)," katanya menerusi laman Twitter.

Anggota polis itu dilapor terperangkap di Akobo, Bor, sejak Rabu lepas.

Beliau antara anggota PDRM yang berkhidmat dalam Pasukan Pengaman PBB di negara berkenaan.

"Keadaan di South Sudan amat meruncing ekoran sengketa/pembunuhan di antara Ethnik Nuer dan Dinka. Alhamdulillah Wira kita selamat," demikian catatan Khalid menerusi akaun Twitternya itu.

Usaha Bernama untuk menghubungi Khalid bagi mendapatkan maklumat lanjut bagaimanapun gagal.

Media melaporkan sejak 15 Disember lepas, lebih 500 terkorban manakala 800 lagi cedera dalam pertempuran membabitkan penyokong Presiden Sudan Selatan Salva Kiir dan penyokong bekas Naib Presiden, Riek Machar.

Pertempuran turut dilapor berlaku di Pibor, satu kawasan di Jonglei.

Etnik Dinka merupakan penyokong Kiir, manakala Nuer pula menyebelahi Machar. - Bernama, 20 Disember, 2013.
