Penduduk kawasan Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Sungai Limau amat berharap peruntukan besar yang diberikan kerajaan dalam Bajet 2014 kepada sektor pendidikan dan juga keselamatan dapat turut dimanfaatkan oleh mereka.

Ini terutama dari segi peruntukan sebanyak RM168 juta untuk memperluaskan akses internet di sekolah yang diharapkan dapat dibangunkan di sekolah-sekolah di kawasan itu.

Bagi petani, Mohd Sazli Shaari, 40, pembangunan jalur lebar amat penting bagi memastikan pelajar di luar bandar dapat bergerak seiring dengan pelajar-pelajar lain, terutama pelajar bandar.

"Kadang kala kemudahan seperti ini, termasuk komputer, tidak cukup. Malah hanya terdapat di sekolah sahaja," katanya kepada Bernama dekat sini hari ini.

Beliau diminta mengulas mengenai Bajet 2014 yang dibentangkan oleh Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak pada persidangan Dewan Rakyat Jumaat lepas.

Perdana Menteri telah membentangkan Bajet 2014 berjumlah RM264.2 bilion bertemakan 'Memperteguh Ketahanan Ekonomi, Memperkasa Transformasi dan Melaksana Janji'.

Pesara tentera, Sharif Din, 61, pula menyambut baik langkah kerajaan memperuntukkan RM8.8 bilion kepada Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) dalam usaha mengurangkan kadar jenayah di seluruh negara, termasuk RM200 juta bagi melengkapkan pasukan itu dengan senjata api, jaket kalis peluru, alat pengesan narkotik, sistem biometrik dan kenderaan forensik.

Bagaimanapun, beliau berharap kerajaan dapat mencari mekanisme terbaik untuk membendung peningkatan kadar jenayah selain meningkatkan mutu kawalan keselamatan dalam memastikan keharmonian rakyat.

"Kalau aspek keselamatan negara tak dijaga, kita nak hidup pun tak tenang. Apa guna kita ada semua tapi negara tidak selamat," katanya.

Sementara itu, seorang surirumah, Fauziah Abdul Rahman, 51, berharap kerajaan dapat membina lebih banyak Projek Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT) supaya golongan berpendapatan rendah sepertinya dapat menikmati hidup di rumah sendiri.

Beliau yang mempunyai lima orang anak turut teruja dengan peningkatan kadar Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) daripada RM500 ke RM650 memandangkan beliau tidak pernah gagal menerima bantuan tersebut dalam tempoh dua tahun lepas.

Katanya bantuan itu sedikit sebanyak mengurangkan beban menanggung kos persekolahan anak-anak kerana suaminya hanya mengambil upah mengerjakan bendang. – Bernama, 27 Oktober, 2013.
