PORT KLANG, April 16 (Bernama) -- Actress Lisa Surihani today admitted that

the challenges in teaching profession have increased tremendously as compared to

the challenges she faced while serving as an attachment teacher nine years ago.

Lisa and her newly-wedded husband, actor and singer, Yusry Abdul Halim, are

among the celebrities taking part in the Teach For Malaysia (TFM) Week

programme, where they play the role of a teacher, at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan

(SMK) Pendamaran Jaya here today.

Lisa said what she experienced today had indeed heightened her respect for

teaching profession.

"From my experience today, it is clearly not easy to be a teacher. The

challenges have increased with time, especially in terms of attracting student''s

attention.

"As such, I would like to call on more Malaysians to support and participate

in this programme," she told a press conference here.

TFM-CELEBRITIES 2 (LAST) PORT KLANG

Lisa and Yusry each spent an hour teaching Geography and English to first

former students at the school.

Apart from them, the TFM programme, which began today till April 20, will

also see the participation of individuals from the financial, business and

public service sectors.

They are scheduled to teach at various schools in Kuala Langat, Klang, Kuala

Selangor, Petaling Perdana and Hulu Langat in Selangor; Sentul and Keramat in

Kuala Lumpur; and Tampin, Jelebu and Kuala Pilah in Negeri Sembilan.

TFM is a non-profit organisation that is enlisting Malaysia''s most promising

future leaders in its mission to end education inequity.
