PUTRAJAYA, 22 Okt (Bernama) -- Bekas majistret Mohd Firdaus Ramlan diarah

menjalani hukuman penjara tiga tahun hari ini selepas Mahkamah Rayuan menolak

rayuan akhirnya untuk mengetepikan hukuman penjara dan denda kerana kesalahan

rasuah.

Panel hakim tiga anggota termasuk Hakim Mahkamah Persekutuan Datuk Jeffrey

Tan Kok Wha dan Hakim Mahkamah Rayuan Datuk Abdul Wahab Patail dan Mah Weng Kwai

sebulat suara menolak rayuan Mohd Firdaus.

Panel itu mengekalkan keputusan Mahkamah Sesyen Kota Baharu yang mendapati

dia (Mohd Firdaus) bersalah terhadap dua tuduhan rasuah dan menjatuhkan hukuman

penjara tiga tahun dan denda RM40,000.

"Sebagai pegawai kehakiman, Mohd Firdaus sepatutnya mempamerkan contoh yang

baik dan tidak melakukan apa-apa kesalahan.

"Dalam kes ini keterangan tentang permintaan dan penerimaan rasuah amat

jelas jadi tidak ada alasan untuk mengganggu keputusan Mahkamah Sesyen dan

Mahkamah Tinggi," kata Jeffrey.

MAHKAMAH-MAJISTRET 2 (AKHIR) PUTRAJAYA

Mohd Firdaus, 30, dipenjara tiga tahun dan didenda RM25,000 oleh Mahkamah

Sesyen pada 3 Okt 2010, bagi pertuduhan pertama meminta sogokan RM5,000 daripada

Md Shani Ishak sebagai balasan mengurangkan hukuman lelaki itu atas kesalahan

dadah.

Md Shani dikenakan bon berkelakuan baik selama dua tahun di Mahkamah

Majistret Kuala Krai pada 6 Okt 2009.

Bagi pertuduhan kedua, dia dijatuhi hukuman penjara tiga tahun dan denda

RM15,000 kerana menerima rasuah RM3,000 daripada Shani melalui Ketua Inspektor

Kamarul Ahmad di stesen minyak Esso, Machang, pada 11 Okt 2009 bagi tujuan sama.

Dia diarah menjalani hukuman itu secara serentak.

Pada 22 Nov tahun lepas, Mahkamah Tinggi menolak rayuan Mohd Firdaus dan

mengekalkan keputusan Mahkamah Sesyen.

Mohd Firdaus, bekas majistret di Kuala Krai dan Machang, Kelantan membayar

denda itu.

Dia diwakili peguam Datuk Shukri Mohamed manakala Timbalan Pendakwa Raya

daripada Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) Datuk Abdul Razak Musa

mewakili pihak pendakwaan.
