Refuelling for the future
Petronas Dagangan (PDB) has launched new twin stations showcasing sustainable solutions and customer centric features.
The two new stations (Petronas Solaris Putra and Petronas Solaris Serdang situated along Lebuhraya PLUS and Lebuhraya Besraya) are uniquely designed to offer customers differentiated services and experiences as part of PDB's aim to strengthen their market leadership position in the fuel retail business.
Among the many new environmentally friendly features of the twin stations are the installation of solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels. Each station has the capacity to generate approximately 200 kilowatts of electricity per hour (the equivalent of powering up to 90 households a year) and doing so reduces their greenhouse emissions by approximately 138 tons of CO2 per year.
Speaking at the launch, Aminul Rashid Mohd Zamzam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PDB said, "In our efforts to remain an industry trendsetter as well as to provide differentiated experiences for our customers, we're exploring creative and efficient use of various aspects of our stations. For example, we have incorporated energy efficient solutions and other customer-centric features to clearly set us apart from the competition."
"The launch of these new stations is also in line with PETRONAS' corporate positioning of Reimagining Energy where we take bold steps to challenge the status quo, explore new solutions and drive execution in a socially responsible manner," he added.
In addition to the solar PV installation, the stations have adopted energy-saving concepts by installing LED lighting that is controlled by an efficient Energy Management System. The system also regulates air conditioning temperatures to ensure a comfortable environment for customers. Other initiatives include rainwater harvesting and nitrogen tyre inflators, an environmental-friendlier alternative that helps to increase fuel economy and tyre life.
Aminul explained that PDB is challenging the norm by transforming PETRONAS stations into a destination by itself. "We showcase this by providing a holistic experience for our customers through our one-stop centre concept, ranging from fuelling up to dining, shopping and running errands. Ultimately, we aim to convert our stations into 'the place to be' where people frequent as a meeting point to chill out with friends and family."
