Samsung announces the successor to Galaxy Note

By Calvin Khong

The word "Note" is buzzing with life all around the world and luckily, in Malaysia, we will be getting the Galaxy Note 10.1 too. Yet, this news is only second-best because Samsung Galaxy Note II is already out in IFA 2012.

When the Galaxy Note came about, it was clearly ludicrous with its 5.3-inch display form factor. However, it won a lot of users over and now, the successor is here: Galaxy Note II. With bigger display at 5.5-inch, this phabet is taller compared to the first generation hybrid, which is wider. Powering it is a quad-core Exynos processor clocked at 1.6GHz and 3,100mAh battery.

Best new so far? It is Jelly Bean out of the box. That's right folks, no more tapping on "Software Update" hoping to get Android 4.1 JB over the air. Also, it is taking design tips from the Galaxy S3's rounded edges and glossy finish.

So will you be dumping your phones for this gadget that is sitting in the line between a tablet and a smartphone? We surely hope that we will be seeing the Note II in Malaysia very soon. Given that the previous Note is at RM1,899, we sure hope that the second generation Note will be priced the same with a cut for the predecessor's price.
