CSA appoints Jennings replacement for Proteas' Under-19 head coach

Johannesburg, Apr. 24 (ANI): Cricket South Africa (CSA) has reportedly revealed that they have appointed Rey Jennings replacement for their under-19 head coach. CSA has reportedly appointed Shukri Conrad to be their new national academy head coach and Lawrence Mahatlane to be their new national under-19 team head coach. CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat congratulated both Conrad and Mahatlane on their respective appointments and said that he wishes them as well as they reorganize themselves for a greater success in future, Sport24 reported. Lorgat said that he would also like to thank Jennings for his fantastic service as South Africa's under-19 national head coach over the past nine years. The CSA chief said that change is inevitable and that the new appointments follow the restructuring put forward through the Cricket Pipeline Committee and approved by the Board in February. CSA general manager of Cricket Corrie van Zyl said that the under-19 head coach would focus on the management of the Talent Acceleration Programme (TAP) and also the coaching of the under-19 national team. Van Zyl also said that the National Academy Head Coach would focus on the National Academy programme during the off-season period from May to September and manage the standardization process of the provincial academies. Van Zyl said that the Head Coach would also act as the Head of scouts and master coaches in the semi-professional structure during the in-season and monitor existing national academy candidates in semi-professional cricket to identify new candidates for the national academy, the report added.
