LONDON, 31 Mac (Bernama) -- Minggu terakhir bulan Mac tahun ini menyaksikan

suhu terus sejuk sehinggakan waktu siang pun mencecah negatif darjah Celsius.

Suhu sejuk membeku ini amat dirasai ramai pengunjung dari negara panas yang

datang ke kota raya London.

Ada juga ketikanya, suhu menjunam ke bawah paras beku, serendah negatif tiga

darjah Celsius pada waktu siang, ditemani angin sejuk yang bertiup sederhana.

“Saya datang ke London untuk bercuti. Saya amat merasakan kesejukan yang

agak melampau bagi saya. Ia juga satu kejutan untuk saya dan kawan-kawan kerana

kami datang dari Mexico yang berhawa panas,” kata pelancong yang mahu dikenali

sebagi Jenny, berusia 30an, kepada Bernama ketika ditemui tidak jauh dari

Istana Buckingham.

Musim bunga sepatutnya telah bermula pada awal Mac apabila musim sejuk

melabuhkan tirai pada hujung Februari di Britain dan kebanyakan negara

lain di benua Eropah.

Bagaimanapun tahun ini suhu beku hadir lebih lama yang pernah dialami sejak

lebih 50 ,tahun. Kali terakhir cuaca sejuk sebegini lama dikatakan pada tahun

1963.

Seorang wanita Inggeris yang ditemui di Muzium Britain, berkata kali ini

salji turun lebih lama sehingga Mac.

CUTI EASTER

Menurut laporan ''London Evening Standard'', ramai dalam kalangan warga

Britain memilih menyambut perayaan ‘Easter’ tahun ini di negara cuaca panas

ketika ini seperti Mesir, Turki, Tunisia, Sepanyol dan kepulauan Caribbean.

Easter ialah antara perayaan utama dalam kalendar penganut Kristian. Minggu

menyambutnya dinamakan minggu suci dan pada Jumaat sebelum Easter dikenali

sebagai Good Friday.

Bagaimanapun Easter sebenarnya merujuk kepada Easter Ahad - hari

memperingati kebangkitan semula Jesus oleh penganut Kristian.

Bagi pengunjung yang sudah berada di London, mereka tiba dengan persediaan

untuk menghadapi musim sejuk yang panjang ini. Bagi mereka yang biasa dengan

musim sejuk kerana bermastautin di Britain dan negara-negara yang mengalami

empat musim, turut merasai kesejukan suhu negatif kali ini.

Berhelai-helai pakaian tebal dipakai untuk mengelakkan rasa sejuk dan

keadaan berangin ini.

Seorang pengunjung dari Denmark yang bercuti di London selama enam hari

bersama keluarga berkata di Denmark suhunya lebih rendah daripada London.

“Saya memang sudah biasa dengan cuaca sebegini tetapi tidak menyangka akan

menyambut Easter dalam cuaca sejuk juga. Terpaksalah kami bercuti dengan

berbekalkan pakaian tebal seperti ini,” katanya.

Apa kata orang London sendiri?

“Saya akan pergi bercuti ke Marrakesh (Maghribi), terlalu sejuk di sini,”

kata seorang lelaki Inggeris ketika ditanya mengenai suhu sejuk melampau ini di

stesen kereta api bawah tanah di Oxford Circus.

Lelaki berusia dalam lingkungan 20an itu baru saja selesai membeli-belah di

deretan gedung terkemuka seperti Selfridges, H&M, Marks & Spencer, Hamleys dan

Top Shop yang kebetulan ketika ini mengadakan jualan murah musim bunga

bersempena sambutan Easter.

PERCUTIAN DINGIN

Penulis juga menemui beberapa orang warga Malaysia yang turut bercuti di

kota raya London.

“Sejuk, memang sejuk sungguh. Tapi kami telah dinasihatkan untuk membawa

pakaian ''termal'' dan tebal supaya dapat bertahan cuaca sejuk," kata Noorshazeele

Zakaria, 25, yang lengkap berstokin panjang dan sarung tangan tebal.

Hazman Sapawi dari Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM) berkata

beliau berkunjung ke London tahun 2012 dalam tempoh waktu yang sama.

"Saya sudah bersedia dengan pakaian tebal untuk musim sejuk, tetapi

menyarung pakaian yang lebih tebal lagi kali ini," katanya.

Akhbar di kota raya London turut melaporkan agensi ramalan kaji cuaca

menjangkakan musim dingin kini akan berpanjangan dalam sebulan lagi.
