Daesung's Fatal Crash

31 May – Around 1.40am in Seoul today, Korean boy band; Big Bang's Daesung was reported to have gotten into an accident as he hit a motorcyclist in front of him. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report by Allkpop website.

The group's agency, YG Entertainment issued a statement that said, "After the accident and investigations lasting up to 3 to 4 hours at the police station, Daesung had returned to the hostel to rest. He is in shock and is worrying greatly."

They added, "Daesung has no particular schedule for some time. The show that he is currently a regular on SBS' "Night After Night", will not be recording this week. After the end of the 19-day concerts in Japan, Big Bang was on vacation until about next week."

The Seoul Youngdeung-po Police Department later released an official statement about Daesung's role in the car accident, citing, "Daesung has violated his duty to drive safely."

"At 1.28am, Daesung was driving in the first lane from Hapjeong-dong in the direction of Yangpyung-dong on a four lane road. He was driving at 80km per hour (speed limit is 60km/h) and crashed into a taxi after driving over a motorcyclist who was passed out on the street."

They continued, "We will carry a more detailed examination by monitoring the CCTV collected around the accident site, as well as gathering eyewitness reports and understanding the path of the motorcycle. We have requested an autopsy on the victim from the National Institute of Scientific Investigation."
