Dewan Negara records sympathy over missing MH370 – Bernama

Members of the Dewan Negara attending the first meeting of the second session of the 13th Parliament have recorded their sympathy and sadness over the fate of flight MH370.

Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang said he was saddened by the tragedy and hoped the people would continue to pray for the plane to be found soon.

"I hope that we will continue to pray for favourable outcome of the search efforts and remarkable discovery of the missing jetliner," he said before the Dewan Negara started its proceedings with oral questions, today.

Flight MH370, with 239 people aboard, left the KL International Airport at 12.41am on March 8 and vanished from radar screens about an hour later while over the South China Sea. It was to have arrived in Beijing at 6.30am on the same day.

A multinational search was mounted for the Boeing 777-200 aircraft, first in the South China Sea and then, after it was learnt that the plane had veered off course, in the southern Indian Ocean where it was said to have ended its journey.

Meanwhile, Abu Zahar, who presided the first day of the meeting, also extended his condolences to the widow and family of Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh who died in a road accident last Thursday.

Also killed in the accident at Km306.1 of the North-South Expressway near Gua Tempurung in Kampar at 1.10am was Karpal Singh's personal assistant Michael Cornelius, 39. – Bernama, April 21, 2014.
