Sekali lagi Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak (gambar) memilih untuk bercakap isu sensitif semasa berada di luar negara iaitu mempertahankan keputusan mahkamah yang melarang Kristian daripada menggunakan kalimah Allah.

Najib berkata, larangan mingguan Kartolik, Herald daripada menggunakan Allah adalah perlu untuk menjaga ketenteraman awam dan keharmonian negara dengan alasan Herald adalah akhbar yang tersebar luas.

Herald dicetak 14,000 naskah setiap minggu  dan kebanyakannnya diedarkan menerusi gereja.

Dalam wawancaranya dengan Reuters di London, Najib berkata: "Semua perlu faham ada hal yang sensitif di Malaysia, tetapi yang terlebih penting adalah ketenteraman awam dan keharmonian negara."

Perdana Menteri berkata, keputusan Mahkamah Rayuan hanya untuk akhbar Herald dan kerajaan tidak akan menyekat penggunaan kalimah Allah bagi penganut Kristian di Sabah dan Sarawak.

"Keputusan mahkamah hanya untuk akhbar Herald yang mempunyai edaran yang meluas, ia tidak akan dilaksanakan di Sabah and Sarawak.

"Jadi apa yang kita cuba buat adalah secara objektif dan semuanya untuk memastikan ketenteraman awam dan keharmonian negara," katanya ketika ditemui semasa Forum Ekonomi Islam Antarabangsa di London.

Tafsiran Najib mengenai keputusan Mahkamah Rayuan itu tidak sama dengan apa yang ditafsirkan oleh pemimpin Kristian, pakar undang-undang perlembagaan dan bekas Peguam Negara, Tan Sri Abu Talib yang memperkatakan kesan daripada keputusan 14 Oktober itu.

Pengkritik kepada keputusan mahkamah itu mendakwa, keputusan hakim bahawa Allah tidak termasuk dalam tuhan orang Kristian membawa kesan yang luas daripada sekadar akhbar Herald sahaja.

Putrajaya dianggap cuba mempertahankan undinya di Sabah dan Sarawak - bank undi utama untuk Barisan Nasional - apabila berkata keputusan mahkamah itu tidak menghalang mereka menggunakannya tetapi pemimpin gereja berkata, ramai kalangan penduduk Sabah dan Sarawak kini bekerja di Semenanjung.

Pemimpin Kristian mendakwa, kalimah Allah digunakan sejak lebih 100 tahun lalu, jauh sebelum negara merdeka pada 1957, dan ia berlaku tanpa memberikan sebarang salah faham di kalangan orang Islam dan mengganggu ketenteraman negara.

Namun, komen Najib sekurang-kurangnya memberi gambaran kepada rakyat negara ini mengenai sikap sebenar beliau berhubung keputusan mahkamah ini.

Sehingga kini, beliau hanya menjanjikan pelan 10 perkara untuk menyelesaikan isu yang melibatkan penganut Kristian di Malaysia Timur.

Perkara utama dalam pelan yang dinyatakan kerajaan pada 2011 adalah membenarkan Bible berbahasa Melayu yang mengandungi perkataan Allah dibawa masuk ke dalam negara.

Najib biasanya menjauhi isu kontroversi dan jarang mengadakan sidang media mengenainya di dalam negara.

Ia berbeza dengan Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yang menjawab semua persoalan media, daripada soalan nakal hinggalah yang serius, ketika dia menjadi Perdana Menteri.

September lalu, Najib memberitahu perwakilan Perhimpunan Agung Umno keperluan mengamalkan wasaatiyyah iaitu kesederhanaan dalam menangani pelampau walaupun dalam masa yang sama mengekang penyebaran Syiah di Malaysia.

Walaupun kebanyakan umat Islam di Malaysia mengamalkan Sunnah wal Jamaah ada juga yang cuba mengamalkan Syiah.

Islam adalah persoalan negara tetapi pihak berkuasa agama juga memainkan peranan besar dalam mengawal selia hal-ehwal agama.

Pengkritik berpendapat Perdana Menteri sepatutnya menghalang sekatan sedemikian termasuk tangkapan dan serbuan kerana ia bertentangan dengan kenyataannya sendiri. - 1 November, 2013.
