Ford: Best-Selling Global Car Brand of 2012 in the US.

The Ford Focus "best selling global vehicle nameplate", not the same as the "best selling car".

Over 2.2 million Fords were sold in the US in 2012, making Ford the only brand to top 2 million US sales since 2007. This is according to global industry data from Polk.

The Focus remains the best selling “global vehicle nameplate” - meaning the most cars sold in the world badged with the name Focus although the Focuses around the world are not necessarily of the same generation or even design as the car which is badged “Focus” may vary from country to country. The Fiesta is the best-selling small car in the B- and C-segment.

Ford also lays claim that it is the only automaker with three vehicle nameplates in the global top 10. Besides the Focus as number 1, the F-series comes in at number 4 and the Fiesta at number 5.
