Former Barisan MPs grouping calls for stern action on Teresa Kok – Bernama

The government should take legal action against Seputeh MP Teresa Kok for producing a video that allegedly insulted the Malays, said a group comprising of former Barisan Nasional MPs.

The vice-president of the Malaysian Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak) Datuk Mohd Yazid Baba said this was necessary to prevent such provocation from being repeated in future.

"We fear that if it is allowed to go on, it can break up the solidarity and social harmony in the country. The government must take stern action in terms of the law so that it will become a lesson to those wishing to do it," he told reporters after opening the general meeting of the Negeri Sembilan Mubarak Branch in Seremban, today.

He said that Mubarak condemned the action of Teresa Kok as it should not have been made by a respected member of the Parliament.

In another development, Yazid urged the government to review the pension structure for former MPs and former state assemblymen as the present rate was inadequate.

Yazid was meanwhile elected as president of Mubarak unopposed, succeeding Datuk Siti Rahmah Kassim who did not seek election. Datuk Abdul Muhi Abdul Wahab was elected as Deputy President unopposed. – Bernama, February 11, 2014.
