JOHOR BARU, 2 Mei — Dengan waktu berkempen yang tinggal tiga hari, Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman akan membawa kempen Barisan Nasional (BN) ke Singapura hari ini untuk bertemu dengan pengundi Malaysia yang bekerja di republik itu.

Abdul Ghani yang merupakan bekas Menteri Besar Johor selama 18 tahun juga dijangka akan bergerak sekitar jam 6 pagi untuk memasuki negara jiran menggunakan sebuah bas, dengan tempat berkumpul ditetapkan di Bukit Indah, yang juga merupakan sebahagian daripada kawasan Nusajaya.

Sumber yang dihubungi The Malaysian Insider mengesahkan perkara itu, namun enggan mengulas lanjut mengenai program Abdul Ghani yang turut akan membawa sekumpulan wartawan terpilih dan akan bergarak menaiki bas ke Singapura dari Bukit Indah di Nusajaya, kerusi Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) di bawah Gelang Patah.

“Memang Ghani akan ke Singapura. Kita hanya menjemput media yang terhad,” kata sumber itu ketika dihubungi.

Sumber lain yang akan menyertai rombongan berkenaan juga mengesahkan perkara itu, namun tidak pasti program Abdul Ghani di republik berkenaan.

“Arahan mengatakan berkumpul di Bukit Indah jam 6 pagi ... bila sudah sampai nanti baru akan tahu program,” kata sumber berkenaan.

Selesai program di Singapura, Abdul Ghani dijangka akan menghadiri Program Kembara Budaya di Gerai Majlis Perbandaran Johor Bahru Tengah (MPJBT) di Taman Universiti, Skudai pada jam 11.30 pagi.

Menurut laporan akhbar Singapura The Straits Times pada Januari, terdapat 400,000 daripada sejuta rakyat Malaysia menetap di luar negara berada di Singapura dengan kebanyakkan daripada mereka merupakan rakyat Johor.

Pengundi Malaysia di Singapura termasuk di selatan Thailand, Brunei dan Kalimantan tidak dibenarkan mengundi secara pos akan tetapi perlu pulang ketanah air jika mahu melakukannya pada 5 Mei ini.

Singapura merupakan jiran terdekat Johor, menjadi tumpuan oleh rakyat Malaysia untuk mencari rezeki ekoran nilai matawang Dolar Singapura yang tinggi berbanding Ringgit Malaysia.

Lawan Abdul Ghani di Gelang Patah untuk Pilihan Raya Umum ke-13 (PRU 13) adalah Penasihat DAP, Lim Kit Siang yang berusia 72 tahun.

Kerusi Gelang Patah memiliki 10,684 jumlah pengundi, dengan majoritinya adalah pengundi Cina dengan jumlah 54 peratus, manakala Melayu 34 peratus dan India membentuk 12 peratus.

Johor membentuk 26 kerusi Parlimen dengan 25 daripadanya dikuasai BN, manakala satu milik DAP ketika tsunami politik melanda pada 2008.

Tan Ah Eng daripada MCA telah memenagi kerusi Gelang Patah menewaskan calon PKR dengan majoriti 31,666 undi pada 2004, namun mengecil kepada 8,851 undi pada 2008.
