Henry Ford turns 150

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the man who revolutionised modern day car production and mobilised the United States with the introduction of the Ford Model T or Tin Lizzie as it's known to many.

The 30th of July was Henry Ford’s birthday and this year marks his 150th anniversary. The man was a perfectionist and an innovator, through his ideas and inventions, Henry Ford revolutionised the way the world saw car production. To remember the founder of the blue oval and all his works, many events and declarations are taking place in the US and across the globe.

Celebrations were held at Ford Motor Company’s headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan to remember the man that put Detroit on the map. For many, that will be enough but for a man like Henry Ford, it isn’t. So in the state of Michigan (Ford’s hometown), the 30th of July was declared “Henry Ford Day”.

This is all part of a yearlong celebration of Mr Ford and his great works. Ford Malaysia has also done their part to remember the founder of the company by having various offers and decorating their facilities. This is also being done in dealerships across Asia Pacific as part of the Ford Heritage month. Ford of Germany marked the occasion by conducting a series of five road rallies.

In Romania, more than 4,000 people attended community events held by Ford as a way to show their appreciation for the man and his company. That’s not all as in Great Britain, a restored statue of Henry Ford was revealed at the company’s UK Tech Centre.

Though the Ford Motor Company is doing quite well these days, Back when Henry Ford first started the company, things weren’t as rosy. It wasn’t until the company introduced the Model T that business eventually picked up. But the introduction of a modern car assembly line was the main invention that made the world stop and take notice. This was a revolutionary way to build cars back in the day. It reduced the amount of time needed to construct a single car from 12 and a half hours down to just one and a half hours.

There were many other good works that Henry Ford did including being partly responsible for creating the middle class community in the US but unfortunately we can’t list them all. But he was a great man and a he left behind an amazing legacy that will be kept alive by every fan of the blue oval.
