AMPANG: The Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Expressway (SUKE) is a proposed 31.8km elevated highway that will start from Sri Petaling and end at Ulu Kelang.
It will be constructed and maintained by Prolintas Sdn Bhd, who are also the concessionaires for the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), and the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH).
The highway is expected to reduce traffic at MRR2 by 24 per cent and in Jalan Ampang by 36 per cent.
It will serve as a expressway alternative to the highly-congested MRR2. The expressway will feature 11 interchanges and three toll booths.
It starts at Sri Petaling and will go through Sungai Besi and Alam Damai before the first toll booth.
It will then go through Cheras-Kajang and several housing areas such as Taman Segar Jaya and Cheras Hartamas before a second toll booth.
The final stretch of the highway will then proceed to Taman Bukit Teratai, Taman Putra, Taman Dagang Permai and Taman Dagang before its final toll booth.
At this point, the elevated highway is expected to cut through the heartland of Ampang, where some land acquisition is expected to be made (such as Pekan Ampang and running close to Ampang Point) before its Ampang Interchange.
The highway will conclude at Ulu Kelang after one more interchange at Taman Hillview. At this point, it is expected to be run parallel and almost directly above the existing MRR2.
At the end point, the highway will have a meeting point with DUKE, the MRR2, and AKLEH.
