KUALA TERENGGANU, 13 Okt (Bernama) -- Seorang ibu dan anak perempuannya

berusia 17 tahun antara pesalah trafik yang ditahan dalam operasi mencegah Mat

Rempit oleh Unit Khas Pasukan Trafik Ibu Pejabat Polis Bukit Aman sekitar Padang

Midin dekat sini hari ini.

Wanita berusia 36 tahun itu mendakwa kedua-dua mereka dalam perjalanan ke

rumah keluarga angkat di sekitar kawasan itu ditahan atas kesalahan tiada

memiliki lesen memandu.

Dalam operasi kali ketiga dari semalam bermula pukul 3 petang hingga pukul 5

pagi tadi, sebanyak 301 saman trafik dikeluarkan atas pelbagai kesalahan

membabitkan pemeriksaan ke atas 20 buah kereta dan 417 motosikal.

Ketua operasi khas tersebut, ASP Khuzir Abd Majit berkata 13 buah motosikal

disita atas pelbagai kesalahan manakala 123 buah lagi diberikan notis arahan

pemeriksaan semula.

Antara kesalahan dilakukan ialah menunggang tanpa lesen, cukai jalan tamat

tempoh, mengubah suai ekzos dan enjin serta nombor plat kenderaan tidak mengikut

spesifikasi.

POLIS-OPS 2 (AKHIR) KUALA TERENGGANU

"Dalam operasi 14 jam ini kami menahan dua penunggang motosikal di bawah

Seksyen 279 Kanun Keseksaan kerana melakukan aksi berbahaya manakala empat

penunggang ditahan terlibat dengan penyalahgunaan dadah.

"Sebanyak 43 buah motorsikal ditinggalkan pemilik yang melarikan diri ketika

operasi dijalankan. Kesemua pemilik akan disaman ketika menuntut kenderaan

mereka nanti," katanya Khuzir ketika ditemui selepas tamat operasi di sini hari

ini.

Operasi disertai seramai 99 pegawai dan anggota polis dan enam kakitangan

Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) Kuala Terengganu.

Menurut Khuzir, operasi mencegah itu akan diadakan lagi agar kegiatan salah

dan tidak berfaedah itu tidak berleluasa.

Semasa operasi berjalan pelbagai tindakan berani dan nekad kumpulan Mat

Rempit dapat dilihat termasuk cuba memboloskan diri daripada sekatan secara

bertindak menunggang melawan arus selain memasuki jalan-jalan kecil.

Ada juga yang melarikan diri dengan meninggalkan kenderaan mereka di

kedai-kedai makan.

Beliau menasihati ibu bapa agar memantau pergerakan anak-anak bagi mengelak

mereka daripada ditahan polis kerana terlibat dalam aktiviti jalanan yang tidak

sihat itu.
