industri huluan dan hiliran berkaitan komoditi kelapa sawit bagi menjadikan

komoditi berkenaan penyumbang besar kepada ekonomi negara, kata Menteri

Perusahaan Perladangan dan Komoditi Tan Sri Bernard Dompok

Katanya penumpuan kepada industri huluan dan hiliran komoditi itu amat

penting kepada negara memandangkan keluasan tanaman kelapa sawit di negara ini

meliputi 5.0 juta hektar daripada 6.6 juta hektar kawasan pertanian di negara

ini.

Di peringkat huluan, katanya kementeriannya giat membantu para petani untuk

menanam semula kelapa sawit yang sudah tua dengan klon baharu pokok kelapa sawit

serta menggalakkan amalan pertanian yang baik bagi meningkatkan produktiviti.

"Pada peringkat hiliran, kita membantu penggiat komoditi ini untuk mencari

produk baharu atau memproses kelapa sawit untuk menghasilkan produk baharu."

"Untuk ini, kerajaan membantu mereka dengan memberi geran 40 peratus

daripada kos (penyelidikan pengeluaran produk baharu itu)," katanya.

Dompok, yang juga Presiden Pertubuhan Pasok Momogun Kadazandusun Murut

Bersatu (Upko), berkata demikian kepada pemberita selepas merasmikan Konvensyen

Upko Bahagian Tawau di sini hari ini.

Sehubungan itu, katanya, syarikat-syarikat yang berminat menerokai

penyelidikan bagi menghasilkan produk berasaskan komoditi sawit dan getah

digalakkan mengemukakan cadangan mereka kepada kerajaan untuk dibincangkan

dalam mesyuarat bulanan jawatankuasa pemandu Bidang Keberhasilan Utama Negara

(NKRA) untuk sawit dan getah.

Katanya fokus kepada industri huluan dan hiliran komoditi sawit berkenaan

juga diberi keutamaan bagi memastikan sasaran sumbangan komoditi itu kepada

ekonomi negara sebanyak RM242 bilion menjelang 2020 dapat dicapai dengan

jayanya.

Mengenai harga pasaran minyak sawit mentah (MSM) pada masa akan datang,

Dompok yakin harganya akan meningkat ke tahap lebih tinggi apabila kelembapan

ekonomi yang dihadapi negara seperti Jepun, Amerika Syarikat dan negara-negara

Kesatuan Eropah pulih semula.
