Isma now attacking MIC for making ‘nonsensical statements’

MIC’s Vell Paari wants police to act on Palanivel video clip

After insulting the Chinese by calling them "trespassers", Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) has now trained its guns on an MIC leader who had earlier criticised the Islamist group.

Isma vice-president II Abdul Rahman Mat Dali warned MIC strategy director S. Vell Paari (pic) today not to open his "big mouth" to make "nonsensical" statements.

"Do not open your big mouth. It is better to keep quiet than to make statements that are nonsensical.

"He (Vell Paari) should not interfere with issues that have nothing to do with him," Abdul Rahman said in an article posted on Isma's website today.

Abdul Rahman was hitting back at the MIC leader for saying that the name Isma is like a venereal disease and an unentertaining clown. Vell Paari had made the remarks after Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman labelled the Chinese as "trespassers".

Abdul Rahman said Vell Paari had gone overboard with his remarks and it sounded as if he was challenging Isma and all Muslims.

"I say that he is childish and lacking sense," Abdul Rahman said.

Isma has drawn criticism over the last few days following controversial statements made by Abdullah Zaik, who is now under investigation for sedition.

On Tuesday, Abdullah Zaik called the Chinese who came to Tanah Melayu with the British "trespassers" and accused them of being in cohorts with the colonial power to bully the Malays.

He questioned the citizenship and wealth given to the Chinese and said it was a mistake that needs to be corrected, although he did not say how.

On May 1, he also questioned what contributions of non-Muslims to the country had given them the right to make demands.

When contacted by the Malaysian Insider yesterday, Abdullah Zaik defended himself and said he was only stating "historical facts".

He also said there was no need for him to apologise because the Chinese have forgotten their origins and need to be reminded.

He said the Chinese needed to be mindful of how the Malays feel but they should not count on the Malays to care for their feelings. – May 8, 2014.
